Bronte Country

When I first came to Yorkshire. My mother came to visit me she was really
exited as I only lived a few miles from Haworth. Which is famous for the Bronte
family.
We visited on a cold snowy afternoon.I expected it to be a bleak place.
But Haworth itself felt quite warm & welcoming. The parsonage being quite
close to the other dwellings.
I don't know if I felt this way because of the novels I have read.
Yes the moors are bleak and wild one could almost expect Heathcliffe
to come amblingalong.
But the village itself was thronged with visitors worlwide.
Many of course from the usa & Japan.....
I include a great website to enjoy:

Christian

I am a Christian ... My faith is important to me! I have friends from other faiths too!
I don't know what I would do without it.
Sometimes I get low. But then I realise that JESUS is ever with me and wants to lead and help people wherever they are......
A picture of some friends @ our fellowship barbecue.

HMS Ganges

I wonder which one is the Mascot? Both are quite splendid aren't they?

Before I met my husband Dave he was in the Royal Navy with HMS Ganges the shore base training ship. He was in the navy for 8 years. He missed it quite a lot. So he along with friends
started a local reunion group in Selby Norh Yorkshire....
I am publishing some pics of the reunion in Suffolk. One of Dave with his old pal
Michael who now resides in Dayton Ohio.....

Family

I have 2 daughters one of nearly 21 and one of nearly 31......
They are both lovely girls but very different!
I also have 3 grandchildren.
A boy pic taken in Devon
and Twin girls.........
I will show you some pics of them!

Helen Keller

Both my girls work with the blind deaf & austic young adults;
So I looked up on Helen Keller. It came to me that we don't
seem to have any strong role models anymore...
Not that we all need to have these disabilities...
It just seems that it is a case of want it now this instant!
Like instant coffee. No sacrifices. Just me, me, me!
I was thinking when the children of Israel were in the desert
they just wanted quail now, now, now! God in his wisdom gave it
to them didn't he?

My Garden & Parents interests.........

I have always loved gardens. My mother and father both loved gardens..
In fact in the 20's my mother was one of the first ladies to own an allotment.
She grew many vegetables and flowers winning prizes in local shows.
Allotments were popular during the war in the uk when many had to grow
their own vegetables.
The council allowed people to rent them as many only had small yards in terraces.
My father too loved nature. He knew most songbirds by name. He also loved
gardening especially roses.
I have memorys of happy times in gardens and picnics.
Because my parents were so gifted. I felt as a child I couldn't achieve much
and lacked self esteem for many years.
Now we have our own small plot I enjoy creating!
A PEBBLE GARDEN
A few yrs ago because of all the gardening programmes on TV.
Many started taking an interest in their gardens. As outdoor living spaces.
Many wanted easy care gardens
So I created a small pebble garden.
We also live opposite the river which is quite interesting.
We are uk's most inland port being some 50 miles from the open sea.
We have a narrow front plot and postage size back yard.
Then a paving area. Then rockery area.
When we first bought the house as it had a basement and had been rented
for years. The dirt was piled high almost covering the basement window.
So I had to think of something on two levels hence the rockery.
I hope to take pics of this and download soon.

Hopefully a photo of me!

This is me! Taken in the basement of our house last Christmas.

My Pebble Garden

I have actually managed to upload a photo of part of my pebble garden in the snow!
I shall upload another view..
Our neighbour threw away the arch which I recycled & painted blue!
Since this pic have put new fence up!
Also have grapes growing...
Don't know how they'll do as although for Northern climes we had a very wet cold August.
I fear they will be small & sour.....
Someone mentioned to use tomatoe fertilizer?
